What happens when you take two down-on-their-luck New Yorkers and move them to a goat farm in rural Sharon Springs? You get Beekman 1802, a luxury lifestyle brand devoted to their neighbors, their products, and their employees. During the 2008 recession, both Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell lost their jobs. Brent, a physician and the VP of Martha Stewart Healthy Living, and Josh, an advertising executive, owned the Beekman 1802 farm as a weekend retreat in upstate New York. Instead of giving up the farm when they lost their jobs, they turned it into a working goat farm with the help of neighbor, Farmer John, and soon morphed it into a thriving lifestyle brand. That transformation was documented on their reality TV show, The Fabulous Beekman Boys, and helped along by their win of season 21 of The Amazing Race.

When we started sourcing out a new bath amenity partner, we did not have to look far to find Beekman 1802. Just a few hours’ drive from Boston, a team from The Lenox headed out to meet Brent & Josh at their home in Sharon Springs. After connecting, we realized that both of our philosophies were so aligned that we had to work together. Whether it’s our sourcing coffee from a small roaster in Western Massachusetts instead of a big chain, or Beekman 1802 using their soap maker’s daughter to pour their candles, we both strive to support our local communities.
