We are thrilled to again be able to sponsor an incredible rowing team, this year competing in the Men’s Championship Eights at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, October 21st, tentatively starting at 1:54PM as team USRowing Men’s Training Center. Learn a little more about the incredible crew heading up our very own crew team this year:


Julian Venonsky

Coxswain
University of California – Berkeley, 2016

Julian was initially a lightweight rower in high school but switched to being a coxswain in college. He won the IRA National Championship in 2016 with Cal before heading to New York City to start working at Paddle8 as an auction manager. He still works for Paddle8 and balances his time between New York and California. He also coxed the 2017 8+ to a silver medal at the World Championships.

Pat made his first national team as part of the under-19 (junior) team way back in 2010. Since then, he had success at Princeton before graduating and heading to Cambridge in England for the 2016-2017 academic year. He returned to the US and immediately joined the senior team in 2017 and stroked the 8+ to a silver medal at the World Championships. He now works as an investment professional at Alpine Investors in San Francisco.

Andrew Reed

Andrew started rowing at the Belmont Hill School in MA before heading to Harvard. In his four years of undergrad, he lost very few races and continued to row post-college with the Craftsbury Rowing Center in Vermont. He made the 2017 8+ and won a silver medal at the World Championships. He now works as an associate with Hollingsworth and Vose.

Mike DiSanto

Mike DiSanto also started rowing at the Belmont Hill School in MA in the spring of his sophomore year. He was a standout member of the football, wrestling, and baseball teams but found tremendous success on the water with the rowing team. He went to Harvard and captained the team to a Henley victory in 2012. He has been a member of the national team for 4 years (including the Olympic team in Rio in 2016). He also went to Oxford University in England and won 3 boat races (2014, 2015, 2017). He currently works as a research consultant at One Equity Partners.

Conor joined the senior national team just a few weeks after graduating from Harvard where he captained the team all season. He began rowing at BC High and was a phenom for a number of years.

Tom Dethlefs

Yale University, 2012

Tom started rowing at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey before heading to Yale. He is one of the few members of the current team to have made all three national teams (junior, u-23, and senior). He won a bronze medal in the 8+ in 2013 at the World Championships and stroked the 8+ in 2014. He is currently working as a research associate for Harding Loevner based on the east coast.

Tom started rowing at the University of Michigan during his freshman year. He has since had tremendous success in multiple boat classes. He represented the USA at the 2012 Olympic Games in the pair. He has stroked the 8+ to multiple medals (at World Cups and World Championships) and was in the 2017 8+ that won silver. He now works as a project manager in the Technology Risk Office at Kaiser Permanente based in Oakland, CA.

Glenn Ochal

Glenn is another long tenured member of the national team. He started rowing at Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia and made the junior and u-23 teams before representing the US in the straight four at the 2012 Olympic Games winning a bronze medal. He was also on the 2016 Olympic team in the 8+ that finished 4th. Aside from the mens single (1x), he has raced internationally in every other men’s heavyweight boat class. He currently lives outside Los Angeles, CA and works as a media strategist for Rauxa.

Alex Karwoski

Alex started rowing as a freshman in high school. He began his collegiate rowing at Trinity College in Hartford, CT before transferring to Cornell. He has been training with the national team since graduating and has been fortunate to make the team in each year starting in 2013. He was a member of the 2017 8+ that won a silver medal and now works as an engineering instructor for Play-Well Technologies based outside San Francisco, CA.
